Experience Tokyo and Japan in 2026
If you would like to explore Tokyo and other incredible regions in Japan, Vita Italian Tours can take you there on the exclusive Cultural Treasures of Japan Small Group Tour. Dates for this tour are March 16 – 28, 2026.
An intimate 13 day small group tour starting with 3 days in Tokyo exploring all the areas mentioned in this blog (and more), then from Tokyo we travel to the lakeside resort of Hakone, renowned for its hot springs and located at the base of Mt Fuji. We then travel to Matsumoto and visit the “Crow Castle”, after which we will step back in time in the rural Edo-Period town of Takayama. After a 2 day stay in Takayama, experiencing its ancient culture we then move onto embrace the unique charm of Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO heritage listed town. We also visit the town of Kanazawa, the origin of gold leaf making since 16th century, where we will explore the stunning Geisha quarter of this town, the Higashi Tea district, the Kenroku-En Gardens, the Samurai district and more. Our tour ends in Kyoto where we will spend 5 days seeing the many wonderous sites this region has to offer. These sites include the spectacular rows of orange toril that weave through a forest- leading you to the inner shrine, we will also visit the Kinkaku -ji temple (UNESCO heritage listed) and travel to Hiroshima for a day, spending time at the Peace Memorial park (and many other sites). Near the end of our tour, we visit the home of the first Shogun and the Nijo Castle (UNESCO heritage listed) followed by some free time to further explore Kyoto. Other tour delights include trying your hand at making sushi, learning to fold intricate origami and on our final night together, attending a maiko show.
